About Us

After moving to East Oakland in 1996, I realized there was no good pizza this far out, and I love a good pizza. So after several years of research, I started making pizzas at home from scratch. Friends would tell me it was really good, and in 2009 I took a class on building a wood-fired pizza oven. By 2010 I had built my first mobile pizza trailer on my driveway. I set out to sell pizzas wherever I could. In 2014 I opened my first brick-and-mortar in the Laurel District, just up the street from where it all started. We named it the Doughjo, and as of 2023, we’re still going strong serving fresh hot pizzas every week both at our storefront and out on the streets of the Bay Area with our mobile ovens.
